Abstract Simon Appel was born in Hungary in 1830 and died in Denver in 1912. He immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1848, becoming a successful tailor. Simon Appel married Hanna Greenwald in 1851. Their son David Edward Appel, born in Philadelphia in 1853, went to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1871 and moved to Denver that same year.David Appel had worked for his father to learn the tailoring trade and began “The Clothing House” when he moved to Denver. Abstract

Samuel and Heloise Bernstein moved from New York before their only child, Leonard, was born in Denver. Samuel worked in retail clothing. Leonard worked for Denver and Rio Grande RR for over 50 years. Most of the documents center around Heloise, Samuel and Leonard. Collection contains marriage announcements and certificates, death certificates, military certificates, postcards, photographs, and scrapbooks related to the Bernstein family from 1893 through 1966.

Abstract The Squire Shop in Cherry Creek was started by Harold and Frayde Sobel Leventhal in 1954. The shop later was incorporated as the Young Squire Shop, Inc. in December 1962 by Harold Levenhal, Frayde Leventhal, and Dean Italiano. The shop primarily sold men's and boys' clothing. Harold and Frayde's son Steven Richard Leventhal later became became manager.
